Dedicated to the main character of his earlier Welcome to the Dollhouse, Solondz’s audacious third feature follows 13-year-old Aviva Victor (played, over the course of the film, by eight different actresses, including Jennifer Jason Leigh), who longs for a love that always seems to elude her. She runs away from home on a quest that takes her to places she never knew existed, outside her insular world and into the expanses of her heart. With Ellen Barkin.
