Description

After the police arrest the thieves who took two of her paintings from an Oslo gallery, Barbora Kysilkova is desperate to recover her artwork, but they are nowhere to be found. Intrigued by one of the thieves, Karl-Bertil Nordland, she asks him to sit for a portrait, beginning an unconventional friendship that affects both the painter and her subject in profound ways. In Barbora and Karl-Bertil, filmmaker Benjamin Ree has found two unlikely protagonists who are willing to be unusually vulnerable with one another, resulting in an affecting and unexpected look at the artistic process and human connection. (Courtesy of NEON).
