"BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS is the perfect midnight movie, a beautiful marriage of low-budget exploitation storytelling and Hollywood production value. Written by Roger Ebert and Russ Meyer over three weeks, BEYOND is brimming with memorable lines, sensational melodrama and every vice known to man (at least until 1970).
On a DVD commentary recorded in 2003, Ebert mentioned that Meyer’s direction aimed to tell the story completely visually, much like a silent film. However, unlike silent films, this movie has a rocking soundtrack with original songs by the fictional “Carrie Nations” and prominently featuring one of the most psychedelic bands ever, Strawberry Alarm Clock. Anyway, come see this groovy one of a kind flick. If you don’t, you are a loser. Sorry." - Staff Pick by Sebastian Becera, Projectionist
