The program will include: Charlie Tyrell’s “My Dead Dad’s Porno Tapes,” a 2018 Sundance Film Festival premiere; “I Am Bisha: The Rebel Puppeteers of Sudan” by Roopa Gogineni, on a satirical puppet show mocking an authoritarian ruler; “We Became Fragments,” by Luisa Conlon, Hanna Miller and Lacy Jane Roberts about a Syrian refugee coming of age in Winnipeg; “Dulce,” by Guille Isa and Angello Faccini, a perspective on climate change through the story of a young girl in a Colombian coastal village; a preview of Emmanuel Vaughan-Lee’s “Earthrise,” on the first image of Earth taken from space, in 1968, as recalled by the Apollo 8 astronauts; and “The Forger,” which uses shadow puppetry to tell the story of the secret past of Adolfo Kaminsky, a man who forged documents to help thousands of children flee the Nazis. Filmmakers will join us for the post-screening conversation.
