Presenting the 2021 films nominated for Best Animated Short at the 93rd Academy Awards. See all nominated films in Live-Action, Documentary and Animation in 2021 Academy Award-Nominated Short Films.

This year for the first time, IFC Center At Home is also offering online screenings of the Animated, Live-Action and Documentary Shorts Nominees. Individual programs are available for $12 each, or purchase a bundle to watch all three Animated, Live-Action and Documentary Shorts programs online for $30. (The option to purchase the bundle is available through any of the three programs’ ticketing links.) Please note that, due to the special nature of this program, we are not able to offer a member discount on tickets for online screenings; member discounts will be in effect for in-theater tickets.

While there is no objectionable content for children, IF ANYTHING HAPPENS I LOVE YOU deals with parents mourning their child, killed in a school shooting, and GENIUS LOCI contains profanity and a very brief instance of nudity. The program is not recommended for children under 12.

Each program is available to view for 72 hours after you begin streaming.

Burrow – dir. Madeline Sharafian (USA, 6 min). A young rabbit embarks on a journey to dig the burrow of her dreams, despite not having a clue what she's doing. Rather than reveal toher neighbours her imperfections, she digs herself deeper and deeper into trouble.

Genius Loci – dir. Adrien Mérigeau (France, 16 min). One night, Reine, a young loner, sees the urban chaos as a mystical oneness that seems alive, like some sort of guide.

Opera – dir. Erick Oh (South Korea/USA, 9 min). An animation project that can be defined as a contemporary animated edition of the Renaissance fresco mural paintings.

If Anything Happens I Love You – dirs. Will McCormack and Michael Govier (USA, 12 min). Greiving parents struggle with the loss of their daughter after a school shooting. An elegy on grief.

Yes-People – dir. Gísli Darri Halldórsson (Iceland, 8 min). One morning an eclectic mix of people faces the everyday battle – such as work, school and dish-washing. As the day progresses, their relationships, and ultimately their capacity to cope, are tested.

PLUS A SELECTION OF ADDITIONAL ANIMATED SHORTS (from the AMPAS shortlist):

Kapaemahu – dirs. Dean Hammer, Joe Wilson and Hinaleimoana Wog-Kalu (USA, 8 min). Long ago, four extraordinary individuals of dual male and female spirit brought the healing arts from Tahiti to Hawaii and imbued their powers in four giant boulders. The stones still stand on Waikiki Beach, but their true story has been hidden – until now.

The Snail and the Whale – dirs. Daniel Snaddon and Max Lang (UK, 26 min). A tiny snail goes on an amazing journey by hitching a ride on the tail of a huge humpback whale.

To: Gerard – dir. Taylor Meacham (USA, 7 min). An elderly mailman charms his first-ever audience member with an improptu magic show.
